The change of venue and the acquisition of three devices have enabled the Land of Barros Cancer Association to expand the physical therapy service that offers its members and all cancer patients in the region.
The goal of this extension is to help alleviate the various pathologies of cancer patients through physiotherapy. For now, women with breast cancer surgery that benefit most from this service.
Currently about thirty women come to treatment for cancer association. According to the physiotherapist of the association, Mary Cadaval, this treatment, applied once a month allows them to reduce swelling of the arm and helps to have a better move.
Children
this application of physical therapy is applicable to all types of cancer. For example, in people with lung cancer surgery can be performed breathing exercises. Also performed with those suffering from stomach and pancreas or acquiring certain attitudes that may lead to problems in the lower back. These problems can be overcome with physiotherapy.
The system is also applicable in children and purpose of the partnership is treated with cancer during the disease process, before and after they are operated.
The physiotherapy service operates Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 13.00 pm, and in order to facilitate the collective attention also goes to the homes of patients. To benefit from this service, the association advises the patient to take the recommendation of the attending physician or specialist. Next, conduct a study of each case and take out the treatment.
The policy of this group believes that this service can reach many more people affected by this illness. Moreover, once they know the association will benefit from other activities and services provided, such as psychological assistance and a social worker, courses, therapies or the numerous talks that are held throughout the year.
